REYNOLDS, JOE - Son of James and Bridget Fitzgerald Reynolds; Brother of James Reynolds - May 25, 1836 - Aug 26, 1915 - Joe, one of the old San Juan pioneers and a typical Rocky Mountain prospector, died at Miners Union Hospital in Silverton.  He suffered with senile gangrene in his right leg, along with other problems related to his age.

RICE, ART - Snowslide - Son of Art and Mary Ann McGee Rice; Brother of Anna, Charles, Edwin, Felix, Frances, John, Patrick C., Susan and William Rice - 1875 - Dec 31, 1909 - Late Friday afternoon, news reached Silverton from Animas Forks that Art Rice, a prominent  well known mining man of the district, had been caught in a huge snowslide on the side of Houghton Mountain near the Columbus Mine

RICE, JOHN "SHAKESPEARE" – Pneumonia - May Be Buried at Red Mountain - Died Feb 23, 1891 - A raging San Juan storm enveloped the mountains, and in Red Mountain the snow was twelve feet deep on the level.  Big slides were down all over the county and everything was blockaded for two weeks.  During the storm three men died of pneumonia at Red Mountain,
