The historic and ruggedly beautiful Hillside Cemetery in Silverton is a gem in the rough! Located in the high country of southwestern Colorado, the graves, marked and unmarked, reveal the colorful history of the area. Originally an isolated mining camp, Silverton is now known worldwide as the picturesque destination of the steam powered narrow gauge train which originates in Durango, Colorado.

Featured on this web site is a complete alphabetical index of more than 3,000 documented San Juan County burials. The earliest known county burial was in 1872; the earliest known cemetery burial was in 1875.
